Hard Hat Accessories
Accessories for slotted hard hats and safety helmets: face shields and visor kits, winter liners, sweatbands, chin straps and helmet-mounted ear muffs. Almost everything here clips into the standard 30mm side slots, so one item goes on the head instead of three. Check slot compatibility before ordering a case.
Most of these fit the GH400 and GH500 safety helmets, which carry the 30mm slots as standard.
For grinding and chipping, the anti-fog full face visor replaces separate glasses and a shield.
In sustained noise, helmet-mounted ear muffs save the crew carrying a second headset.

The 30mm slot is the thing to check
Most industrial hard hats and helmets carry accessory slots on each side, and 30mm is the common standard. If your shells have them, almost every accessory on this page mounts directly.
The GH400 and GH500 series have dedicated visor and eye shield kits listed on their product pages. Confirm slot spacing on every other shell before committing to a bulk order, because a bracket that does not fit is a bracket nobody uses.
What actually raises compliance
Accessories are usually treated as nice-to-have. In practice they are the cheapest way to get PPE worn.
A worker who needs hearing protection and a hard hat has two items to put on, and one of them tends to lose. Helmet-mounted ear muffs remove that choice. The same applies to face shields: a slot-mounted visor flips up and down without anything coming off the head.
Liners, sweatbands and heat
Winter liners cover the ears and neck under the shell and are the difference between a helmet worn in January and one carried. Look for a flame-resistant material where the work requires it.
Sweatbands are consumable. They absorb, they harden, and a hardened band is uncomfortable enough that people loosen the suspension to compensate, which breaks the fit. Replace them regularly and stock spares, because they cost almost nothing and directly affect whether the helmet is worn properly.
Chin straps
A chin strap keeps the shell on the head when a worker leans forward or falls. Two-point straps stop the everyday drop. Four-point straps are what Type 2 helmet certification is built around.
Retrofitting straps to existing hard hats is cheap and worth doing anywhere crews work at height or near moving plant.
One thing to avoid
Metal accessories on a Class E helmet cancel the electrical rating. That includes lamp brackets, metal clips and metal-framed visors. If the shell is Class E, everything mounted to it has to be dielectric.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will these accessories fit my hard hat?
If it has standard 30mm side slots, almost certainly. Check the slot spacing on the product page before ordering a full case.
Can I add a chin strap to an existing hard hat?
Yes, most shells accept a retrofit strap. It is a cheap upgrade anywhere crews work at height or near moving plant.
Do accessories affect the helmet's rating?
They can. Metal accessories on a Class E helmet cancel its electrical rating. Use dielectric accessories on any Class E shell.
How often should sweatbands be replaced?
Regularly. A hardened band makes workers loosen the suspension, which breaks the fit the shell relies on. They cost little, so keep spares.
Are helmet mounted ear muffs as good as standard ones?
Attenuation is comparable at the same NRR, and compliance is usually better because nothing has to come off the head.
