FAQ What certification do these knee pads carry?

The GE PPE GR553 knee pads are certified to EN14404 Type 2 Heavy Duty, an internationally recognized European standard for knee protection used in professional work environments. While EN14404 is a European standard, Type 2 Heavy Duty classification indicates suitability for sustained kneeling tasks requiring stability. Check with your job-site safety officer if a specific OSHA or ANSI standard is required for your workplace.

FAQ What does 'EN14404 Type 2 Heavy Duty' mean in practical terms?

EN14404 is the European standard for knee protectors used at work. Type 2 refers to knee pads designed for tasks that require stability while kneeling — meaning the pad stays securely in place during sustained, stationary kneeling such as flooring installation, tiling, or concrete work, rather than just incidental kneeling.

FAQ What is the gel padding made of, and how does it stay in place?

The gel padding is made of EVA & GEL Foam with a contoured (couture) shape that follows the natural curve of your knee. This contoured design allows the padding to conform to your knee and remain firmly positioned even under sustained load and pressure, preventing the shifting that is common with flat foam pads.

FAQ What is the outer cap made of, and why does it matter?

The outer cap is made of TPE (Thermoplastic Elastomer). TPE provides a stable, shift-free grip and traction on most surfaces — both indoors and outdoors — so the knee pad stays where you place it rather than sliding, which is especially important on smooth surfaces like hardwood, tile, or polished concrete.

FAQ What surfaces can I use these knee pads on?

FAQ What are the straps made of, and are they adjustable?

FAQ Do these knee pads fit one size, or do they come in multiple sizes?

The GR553 comes in one size with adjustable neoprene straps designed to fit a wide range of leg sizes. The adjustable strap system allows you to customize the fit for comfort and security. However, specific leg circumference or fit range measurements are not listed in the product specifications — if you have an unusually small or large leg, we recommend confirming fit before heavy use.

FAQ What are the dimensions of each knee pad?

FAQ What is the main body material of the knee pad?

FAQ What color are the knee pads?

FAQ Are these knee pads sold as a pair?

FAQ What trades or jobs are these knee pads best suited for?

FAQ Can I use these knee pads for gardening or DIY home projects?

FAQ How do I put on and adjust the knee pads?

Place the knee pad over your knee so the gel zone aligns with your kneecap. Then fasten and adjust the neoprene straps — the color-coded black-and-blue design makes it straightforward to identify each strap. Tighten until the pad feels secure without restricting circulation. The neoprene material allows adjustment even with gloves on.

FAQ Will the gel padding shift or bunch up during long work sessions?

FAQ Are the straps comfortable for extended wear?

FAQ Are these knee pads suitable for use on wet or slippery surfaces?

FAQ How do I clean these knee pads?

Specific cleaning instructions are not listed in the product specifications. Generally for neoprene-strapped knee pads with polyester bodies, wiping down with a damp cloth and mild soap and allowing them to air dry is recommended. Avoid submerging in water or machine washing, as this may affect the gel padding and strap integrity.
